In this study, we seek to better understand mother behavior and feelings, infant development, and how mothers may choose to use their smartphone. It does not matter how you feel about your phone use. We wish to understand all parents’ perspectives regardless of whether you view your phone use positively, negatively, or simply don’t have any strong feelings about it.
To participate in this study, you must either be (1) a woman in your 3rd trimester of pregnancy -OR- (2) have an infant who is 0 to 12 weeks old.
The study goes from when your baby is 2 months old to when your baby is 5 months old (about 4 months).
Main parts of the study include:
- Downloading a study app on your phone
- Monthly surveys (once per month)
- Daily surveys (5 very brief surveys per day for 5 days, once per month)
- 2 Remote infant feeding observations (at 2 months and 5 months)
Study compensation
Study tasks and compensation occur monthly. If you completed ALL monthly surveys, daily EMA surveys, and remote feeding observations, you would be compensated a total of $250 across the entire study.

*$1 per completed EMA survey, plus a $10 bonus if complete at least 20 or more EMA surveys.
Remote observation
$35
