Learning experiences at Parkview for high school, college and graduate students

The Parkview Health Education Services department supports schools and students by facilitating clinical and non-clinical learning experiences at Parkview Health facilities and clinics throughout northeast Indiana and northwest Ohio. Our educational opportunities are available for students attending high school or college.

If you are interested in pursuing a career in healthcare and its related professional services, we are ready to help you explore your career path. Parkview offers a variety of learning opportunities for all levels of students who are looking to explore the variety of health-related fields, receive hands-on educational experiences and take the next steps toward employment at Parkview.

Learning opportunities available to both high school and undergraduate students include:

Job Shadows and Observations

During Parkview job shadows and observations, you will explore a variety of careers. Job shadows and observations are for individuals with an interest in working at Parkview, but who are still determining which career is best for them. These opportunities are brief, ranging from one hour up to one week, and hands-off, but allow you to see what it’s like to work in a specific role or department. Job shadows and observations are offered for both clinical and non-clinical positions, and are ideal for high school or college freshmen or sophomores who are still deciding on a major or career.

Job shadow placements are currently closed. They will reopen in September 2024.

Internships

During a Parkview internship, you will spend a semester learning in your field of interest. Our internships can be in-person, remote or hybrid. During your internship, you’ll gain practical skills and experience to help build your resume and prepare you for early career roles. These internships are typically a hands-on experience in your chosen field. Students can be assigned to a department or to a particular role of interest.

Clinicals

During a Parkview clinical, you’ll receive hands-on practice in healthcare settings while also fulfilling degree or certification requirements specific to your school. Parkview clinicals usually take place in one of our inpatient or ambulatory units depending on your career path and area of study. We offer clinical opportunities throughout the year and these can be assigned to a department or an individual preceptor.
