Commonly known as high blood pressure, this condition is elevated pressure of the blood against the artery walls. If you have hypertension, you likely feel no symptoms. Occasionally, patients report headaches, shortness of breath, or nose bleeds.
Hypertension should not be ignored. Regular checkups by your primary care physician give you the best chance of effectively managing your numbers and avoiding more severe cardiac conditions.

The physicians and staff of the Hypertension Clinic at Parkview Heart Institute can help you improve the quality of life for your patients with hypertension.
Our team includes physicians with specialization in general cardiology, cardiac electrophysiology, interventional cardiology and cardiovascular surgery. Upon referral, your patient’s current condition and history will be evaluated by members of the care team to identify the best treatment plan for that individual, considering the physiological status and co-morbidities.
Hypertension Clinic referral criteria
- Documented recurrent SBP > 140/90
- Must have tried at least 3 BP medications at therapeutic doses (not initial starting dose)
- Patient must be willing to take medications for hypertension
- Patient must be educated on the side effects and long-term nature of hypertension medications
The following labs/tests should be scheduled within 6 months prior to referral
- BMP
- Lipid Panel
- TSH
- EKG (within 1 year)
