President, Parkview Packnett Family Cancer Institute
Alan Yahanda, MD, FACS, returned to Parkview in May of 2024 to serve as the President of the Packnett Family Cancer Institute (PFCI). He is a fellowship-trained surgical oncologist with over 30 years of expertise in caring for patients with cancer. He previously worked at Parkview from 2000 to 2013.
In his role as president, Dr. Yahanda will partner with the chief operating officer of the PFCI to provide the vision, strategy and tactics essential to continue the institute’s clinical excellence, innovation, research, and patient and staff engagement.
Dr. Yahanda earned his medical degree from the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine in Baltimore, MD. He continued at that institution to complete his residency in general surgery. He then served as an assistant chief of service and instructor in Surgery at Johns Hopkins for a year before moving to Houston to complete a fellowship in Surgical Oncology. His career path since has coursed through both academic and community settings. From these experiences, he brings a wealth of knowledge related to the oncology landscape, clinical care and leadership.
