Fostering a supportive and innovative workplace culture

Parkview’s Culture of Excellence is the foundation for all we do. Ours is a workplace built on common values and a shared goal to provide excellent care, to every person, every day. Parkview’s commitment to its co-workers and workplace culture is the first step in enabling our workforce to thrive.

Seeking and responding to co-worker feedback is an important component of Parkview’s culture. Whether through in person listening tours, systemwide surveys or online opportunities to submit questions or comments, Parkview values the voice of our team members. In fact, many of our innovative programs were inspired by co-worker feedback.

Parkview’s unique support services include:

  • A My Well-Being team that manages and promotes numerous opportunities for co-workers to improve their physical or mental health, as well as provides fun opportunities that help boost morale and engagement among co-workers.
  • A Co-worker Assistance, Retention and Engagement (CARE) team for co-workers seeking assistance in a time of need, whether it be financial support, transportation, or a connection to other services.
  • An employee assistance program, allowing co-workers to access multiple free mental health counseling sessions each year for a wide variety of needs including general counseling, stress management, addiction treatment and grief counseling.
  • Beyond strong compensation and core benefits, Parkview offers a lifestyle benefit stipend and volunteer time off. These benefits allow co-workers to fund professional or personal needs and have extra time off for volunteer work or mental health days.
  • Parkview Pups is a unique program that allows dogs and their handlers to visit throughout the health system and bring relief to team members during stressful workdays. Provided by Parkview co-workers for Parkview co-workers, the program aims to promote mental and emotional well-being by providing support and comfort through highly trained, certified therapy dog/handler teams. Parkview Pups is funded in partnership with the Parkview Health Foundations.

Diversity, equity and inclusion

Aligned with Parkview’s mission to improve health and inspire well-being is a commitment to promoting diversity, equity and inclusion in the areas of:

Parkview Health is committed to tailoring a personalized health journey to empower people of all diverse cultures and ethnic backgrounds (read about our community health needs assessment), which includes but is not limited to race, ethnicity, age, religion, language, gender, sexual orientation (to include gender identity, transsexual and transgender people), physical abilities/disabilities, socio-economic status, educational backgrounds, and religion of geographic origin. We value the unique aspects of every person’s background, culture and life perspective.

We support these efforts by:

Co-worker resource groups

Parkview has developed co-worker resource groups (CRGs) to unite co-workers around topics of interest or importance to them, such as women in leadership, veterans, co-workers with disabilities, co-workers of various racial/ethnic groups, LGBTQIAA+, working parents, young professionals and other affinities. The groups are meant to be a safe place to share honest feedback and build a sense of community among co-workers.

Each CRG is led by co-workers, with executive level support and a group facilitator who will help guide the discussion. The facilitator will share feedback with Parkview leadership regarding opportunities where the organization might grow or further develop its co-worker support resources.  Current CRGs are focused on faith, mental health wellbeing, working mothers and veterans.
