The endocrine system is a complex group of glands that produce hormones in the body. These glands include the thyroid, parathyroid, pancreas, ovaries, testes, adrenal, pituitary and hypothalamus. Hormones help generate energy and nutrition your body needs to function.
What is an endocrinologist?
An endocrinologist is a physician whose primary focus is diagnosing diseases that affect glands and treating hormone imbalances. Primary care physicians will often refer their patients to an endocrinologist when patients have a problem with their endocrine system.
