In-Office Virtual Visits

Accessible healthcare for you and our rural communities

Parkview offers in-office virtual visits for select specialties, expanding access to specialized care to our rural communities. In-office virtual visits are a type of appointment that allow you to receive care at a Parkview facility while your provider is connected to the appointment via a tablet.

What is an in-office virtual visit?

In-office virtual visits are scheduled appointments at a Parkview facility, where you are connected to your Parkview provider via a tablet and internet connection.

During in-office virtual visits, you receive virtual medical care from a provider at a Parkview location in addition to on-site members of the Parkview care team.

How does an in-office virtual visit work?

For in-office virtual visits, you will arrive at the clinic where your appointment is scheduled and check in with reception. A nurse will show you to an exam room, take your vitals and connect you to your Parkview provider via a tablet. Once connected to the provider, the nurse may leave the room or stay to help the provider complete their exam. You will be able to hear and see your provider during your appointment on a tablet.

Why do I go into an office for an in-office virtual visit?

In-office virtual visits offer increased access to care when your provider is onsite at a different office location in a different community.

By coming to the office for an in-office virtual visit, you have a dedicated care team to assist you during your appointment and ensure we are meeting your healthcare goals - together.

Who could benefit from an in-office virtual visit?

In-office virtual visits are great for:

  • Individuals who have conditions or concerns where being seen in person is not necessary
  • Individuals who do not wish to travel far for routine care
  • Individuals who may not have internet access or access to a strong connection

Virtual visits through MyChart and in-person visits are still available options. Some appointments, like new-patient appointments, may require an initial in-person office visit. You will be notified at the time of scheduling if this is the case.

Why is an in-office virtual visit beneficial?

In-office virtual visits are beneficial for a few reasons.

  • They allow patients who live in rural areas to receive care close to home and reduce travel time.
  • They allow providers to see more patients and reduce wait times for patients to be seen by a provider.
  • They allow patients who do not have internet access to see a specialty provider closer to home.
What if I prefer to see my provider in person?

In-office virtual visits are not required. You are welcome to choose the appointment type that works best for you and the type of care you need. Talk to your doctor if you have questions on which appointment type would work best for you.

Is there anything I need to do ahead of time for my in-office virtual visit?

If your provider has ordered labs, imaging or tests to be completed and reviewed at your in-office virtual visit, please complete them prior to your appointment. Having current labs, images and test results will make the appointment more productive for you and the provider.
