At Parkview Packnett Family Cancer Institute, you can expect:
Navigation
Patients will be connected to a Parkview Packnett Family Cancer Institute nurse navigator within 24 – 48 hours of referral. This supportive team member answers questions, provides resources, and coordinates care. A dedicated nurse navigator follows each patient from diagnosis to treatment completion.
Access and expedited workup
A comprehensive diagnosis, staging, and multidisciplinary care plan will be completed within three weeks of each patient’s initial diagnosis. While most cases are reviewed by our disease-site Tumor Boards, some routine or standard cases may follow a streamlined process. Each patient’s situation is assessed individually to ensure the most appropriate path is taken.
Subspecialized expertise
All our surgical, medical, radiation, and other physicians are fellowship-trained, subspecialized, and equipped with expertise not seen at most institutions. This allows for enhanced knowledge and proficiency beyond generalized surgical, procedural, and medical oncologic practices. We believe in providing unmatched care because every patient deserves to be cared for by experts who are informed and proficient, ensuring the best possible outcomes.
Multidisciplinary collaboration
Our team of specialists focuses on both cancer and subspecialty care. They collaborate with other sections within Parkview Physicians Group and independent groups throughout the region. A key aspect of that collaboration is our disease-site Tumor Boards and tumor site team meetings. Tumor Board meetings are individualized and comprehensive, reviewing cases from history to radiology, surgical procedures, and pathological findings, as well as medical and social issues affecting treatment. For patients whose cases do not require Tumor Board review, our providers still ensure access to cutting-edge research and best practices.
Tumor Board letter
For patients whose cases are discussed by the Tumor Board, a letter summarizing the diagnosis, stage, and comprehensive care plan is provided to the patient, referring physicians, and primary care providers. A simple referral initiates this process.
Personalized education
A dedicated nurse navigator curates and updates a customized education binder for each patient. The educational materials are specific to the treatment plan and individual needs throughout the cancer journey.
