Dave Johnson, PhD, CNS, BC, LMFT, employee assistance specialist, Parkview Health, invites us to slow down this holiday season and tune into the magical moments made possible through mindfulness.
Children allow us to look through their eyes and find awe in the holiday season. You flip on the switch for the twinkle lights and, with intention, something can spark within us. We can access the joy and the delight that kids find in that moment. But if we're too busy to notice it, to see the essence of the Christmas season, we miss it.
Sometimes when we put up the Christmas tree, we hold up the smallest child to put the angel or the star on top. It's the end point. And yet, we know it's kind of the beginning point.
My hope is that each and every one of us, during this magical holiday, can press the pause button of our lives to take in what's really happening. To stop and smell our coffee or tea, and delight. Don't miss the opportunity to behold and feel the awe of those who are nearest and dearest to us.
