Awarding excellence in care at Parkview

It’s what we all strive for—excellence every day. And we love to celebrate the healthcare professionals who go above and beyond to make that happen: the individuals who provide an extra bit of comfort or know how to bring a smile to a patient on a rough day, the ones with a superpower for healthcare. With the DAISY, BEE , PHIL, and Guardian Angel Awards, you can nominate an outstanding Parkview employee and recognize them for making a difference in your care.

The DAISY Award

The DAISY Award is an international recognition program all about honoring excellence in nursing. This award began in memory of J. Patrick Barnes, whose family experienced, firsthand, the difference that nurses can make in care. Barnes’s nurses provided clinical excellence and compassionate care. As a result, his family created the DAISY Award, enabling other patients, families, and staff to express gratitude to nurses.

The BEE Award (coming soon)

The BEE Award was created to recognize the healthcare professionals who support your care—the transportation aides, unit clerks, housekeepers, and phlebotomists, and others. Those who are always striving to exceed our patients’ expectations.

The PHIL Award

The FACES Foundation created the PHIL Award to recognize respiratory therapists who provide outstanding care and treatment to patients. Sharman Lamka established the PHIL Award after her husband, Philip C. Lamka, passed away from interstitial lung disease. Lamka wanted to create a way of acknowledging the valuable role respiratory therapists play in the lives of patients with life-threatening pulmonary illnesses.

Guardian Angel Award

Anyone can be a guardian angel. An environmental services worker. A clerk. A social worker. A surgeon. A guardian angel is a Parkview employee who made all the difference. The Parkview Health Foundation began the Guardian Angel Program as a way for patients and families to express thanks to these angels of Parkview. With this program, patients and families can award an individual and, for those who choose, provide a donation to the foundation as a way to pay it forward.
