ROCHESTER, IND. (Jan. 30, 2019) – Parkview Health Flight Services is celebrating the 20th anniversary of the Parkview Samaritan 2 medical helicopter with an open house Saturday, Feb. 2, from 2 to 5 p.m. at the Fulton County Airport, 525 N. State Route 25, Rochester, Ind.
The public is invited to get a rare, up-close look at the helicopter, which has transported more than 8,000 patients in the North Central Indiana region since Feb. 1, 1999. Members of the community are welcome to snap a picture with the helicopter, talk with crew members, and enjoy cookies and hot chocolate.
“For the last 20 years, patients and their families have relied on the rapid transport of Samaritan 2, perhaps during the scariest moments of their lives,” said Chad Owen, director, Flight, Internal Logistics and Patient Flow, Parkview Health. “We look forward to celebrating with the public all that Samaritan 2 has done to partner with these communities.”
Parkview has two Samaritan medical helicopters. Samaritan 1 is based in Fort Wayne, and Samaritan 2 is based in Rochester. Both helicopters are called into action by dispatchers at the Parkview Logistics Center, located on the Parkview Hospital Randallia campus in Fort Wayne.
