BLUFFTON, IND. – Nov. 15, 2024 – Wells County residents will soon have a new healthcare option for their families close to home. On Dec. 3, Parkview Health will open a new clinic at 1980 N. Main St. in Bluffton, Indiana.
The new clinic encompasses space for providers of Parkview Physicians Group (PPG) – Family Medicine and PPG – OB/GYN, making it convenient for patients to receive multiple types of care under one roof. A ribbon-cutting is planned, and details will be announced soon.
“We are so pleased to be able to open this clinic and expand access to Parkview’s high-quality care for Bluffton and surrounding-area residents,” said Deb Potempa, market president, Parkview Health South. “This facility is designed to provide a welcoming patient experience for those who entrust their care to our expert providers.”
Tammy (Tamara) Troutt, PA-C, PPG – Family Medicine
Bluffton native and experienced Physician Assistant Tammy Troutt has already been serving the Bluffton area she knows, providing comprehensive, quality care to help each person maintain their health, prevent disease and treat illness appropriately. She will relocate from her current office at 1169 N. Main St. to the new facility.
Troutt completed her Bachelor of Science (Health Science Physician Assistant) degree at Butler University in Indianapolis.
She is a fellow member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants and the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants.
Troutt said medicine interested her from a young age, but it was a job shadowing experience with a physician assistant during high school that helped her decide to pursue medicine as a profession and become a PA in her own right. She has found that being a primary care provider suits her.
“I love working with people of all ages and backgrounds,” she said. “I am passionate about getting to know my patients as unique and complex individuals, not just as patients. My goal is to educate them about their health and make recommendations, so each person can then make educated decisions about their healthcare needs.”
Outside of work, Troutt loves to take vacation trips with her family. She enjoys reading, snow skiing and spending quality time with her friends and family members. She also serves the community as a member of the Wells County Board of Health.
Alisa Felke, CNM, PPG – OB/GYN
Certified Nurse-Midwife (CNM) Alisa Felke has been serving the gynecological and obstetric needs of women in northeast Indiana as part of the PPG team for nearly five years and has 10 years’ experience as a CNM.
She completed her master’s degree in nurse-midwifery from Frontier Nursing University in Hyden, Kentucky. Prior to that, she earned her undergraduate degree in nursing from Indiana Wesleyan University in Marion, Indiana.
As a certified nurse-midwife, Felke is an advanced practice registered nurse who cares for women throughout various stages of life. PPG certified nurse-midwives require the highest level of training and education. Unlike other types of midwives, they are trained and licensed in both midwifery and nursing.
“I was privileged to be at the birth of my niece when I was just 20 years old,” she recalled, “and that was the day I knew I wanted to work in labor and delivery. In nursing school, one of my professors was a CNM, which I had never heard of, and the more I learned from her, I knew that it was what I wanted to do.”
Felke says the women who choose her as a healthcare provider can expect compassionate care and a focus on education: “I want to spend time answering my patients’ questions and concerns and helping them understand what to expect. I provide care to women throughout their lifetime, from birth control, STD testing, and well woman exams to care throughout pregnancy, birth and postpartum to menopause care.”
Away from the office, she is the proud mom of boys ages 14, 12 and 7 and a golden doodle named Wally. She enjoys spending time with her family and friends and stays active outdoors by jogging, hiking and biking.
