ALBION, Ind. – Oct. 14, 2024 – Audra Deardorf, FNP-C, has joined Parkview Physicians Group (PPG) – Family Medicine in Albion and is now welcoming patients with Dr. Michael Engle at 817 Trail Ridge Road. With more than six years of experience as a family nurse practitioner and a strong background in patient care, clinical management, and medical education, Deardorf is seeing patients of all ages.
Deardorf brings extensive experience as a family nurse practitioner. Most recently, she cared for patients age 6 and older at Corpus Christi Family Medicine in Texas, where she managed a wide range of patient needs, from chronic medical conditions to urgent care visits. In addition to her clinical role, she served as lead FNP and clinical manager, coordinating provider staffing, training new employees, and implementing protocols.
“We are thrilled to welcome Audra to our team,” said Jordi Disler, market president, Parkview Health North. “Her extensive experience, leadership and commitment to providing compassionate care will greatly benefit our patients and families in the Albion community.”
Before becoming a family nurse practitioner, Deardorf worked as a registered nurse at Corpus Christi Rehabilitation Hospital and Surgical Associates, and as a charge nurse at Christus Spohn Shoreline Hospital, where she specialized in respiratory care and infectious diseases.
“Working as a family medicine nurse practitioner allows me to build strong, trusting relationships with patients throughout their lives,” Deardorf said. “I was drawn to Parkview in Albion because I enjoy being part of a small, close-knit community. It lends the opportunity to get to know my patients — not just their medical conditions, but who they are as individuals — so I can better understand their physical, social, spiritual, and psychological needs and provide personalized care.”
Deardorf earned an M.S. in nursing with a specialization as a family nurse practitioner from Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi and a B.S. in nursing from the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio – graduating summa cum laude each time. She is certified as a family nurse practitioner through the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP). Alongside her clinical work, she is passionate about education and served as an adjunct clinical instructor at Texas A&M, where she taught advanced health assessment and acute and chronic care in the Family Nurse Practitioner Program.
Deardorf is certified in Basic Life Support (BLS) by the American Heart Association and is an active member of professional organizations, including the Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society and AANP.
Originally from Arlington, Texas, Audra Deardorf and her family recently relocated to Indiana, drawn by her husband’s ties to the area—he spent part of his childhood in Auburn before serving in the U.S. Coast Guard. Now out of the military, the family made the move back to Indiana this past summer. In her free time, Deardorf enjoys hiking, cheering on the Houston Texans, reading, fabric crafts and spending time with her two children.
