ROANOKE, IND. – Aug. 8, 2024 – Megan Salzmann, physician assistant (PA-C), has joined Parkview Physicians Group (PPG) – Family Medicine in Roanoke and is welcoming new patients at the office, 577 Geiger Drive, Suite C.
“We are thrilled to have Megan join us in serving the Huntington County community as part of the Parkview family of providers,” said Deb Potempa, market president, Parkview Health South. “Her well-rounded experience and ability to connect with and guide patients in their health journeys will help to ensure they get the most out of their visits.”
Salzmann, a Fort Wayne native, steps into her new role after completing clinical rotations at Parkview and Ohio’s Kettering Health, where she provided patient-centered care in pediatrics, family medicine, OB-GYN, behavioral health, emergency, orthopedic trauma, and allergy/asthma/immunology for patients from newborns to older adults.
“I was always interested in medicine, and I knew I wanted a career where I could connect with people and make a difference in their lives,” said Salzmann. “As a PA, I enjoy building relationships with my patients. I want them to be comfortable asking questions and voicing concerns so we can address them together. It’s important that they feel empowered and equipped to make the best decisions for their health.”
Salzmann earned her master’s degree in physician assistant studies from Kettering College in Dayton, Ohio, and her B.S. in Movement and Sports Sciences from Purdue University. She is board certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA).
Before grad school, Salzmann was a certified nursing assistant (CNA) at a senior living facility in West Lafayette. She then served as a patient care technician at Parkview, assisting patients as they prepared for and recovered from surgery at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic.
In recent years, Salzmann volunteered with a Dayton, Ohio, hospice program where she visited, read, and listened to music with patients. She also joined two medical mission trips to Peru and Guatemala, where she worked in rural communities triaging patients, taking vital signs and educating children on the importance of handwashing and dental hygiene.
Outside of work, Salzmann likes to stay active through walking, yoga and other group exercise classes. As a Purdue alum, she’s a fan of Boilermaker basketball and football. She also enjoys watching the Chicago Cubs and spending time with family and friends.
Salzmann is welcoming patients of all ages. Office hours are 7 a.m. – 5 p.m. on Tuesday and 7:40 a.m. – 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.
