COVID-19 Health System and Community Support
About
The HSIR team has provided weekly updates with community data visualizations and modeling outputs to Parkview leaders and executives (see also COVID-19 Surge Modeling). The updates have also been shared with our state and regional public health officials, as well as community, industry, and government entities including the Indiana Pandemic Information Collaborative, the Fort Wayne Medical Society, the Fort Wayne Mayor’s Office, and the Allen County Department of Health Board. Additionally, the team continues to support leadership through data analysis, research design, and grant preparation related to COVID-19.
Vaccination simulation tool
As COVID-19 vaccines became available in December 2020, we deployed an application able to simulate vaccination clinics to assist with the planning and daily operations of Parkview’s COVID-19 vaccination clinic. The application was developed by HSIR in collaboration with Innovation, Process Improvement, and Nursing Informatics. The simulation tool was used by HSIR and across Indiana. The simulation application was made publicly available alongside a COVID vaccine clinic team handout to help other organizations deploy successful vaccination clinics.
Community engagement
HSIR worked collaboratively with our community leaders to develop and deploy surveys, and swiftly analyze responses. The insights derived from these surveys were widely distributed and used by community organizations and local government officials to make data-driven decisions about resource allocation and policy related to COVID-19. A total of 17,003 survey responses were collected to identify community needs.
