For your convenience, an estimate of your out-of-pocket cost for your scheduled procedure will be provided during the pre-registration process. This estimate is based on the average charges for the procedure and your available insurance benefits at the time the estimate is prepared. Scheduling
You will receive a call from our sleep lab within three business days of being referred to schedule your overnight in-lab sleep study. It is helpful to choose your preferred sleep lab location and to have your availability close at hand prior to this call. In-lab sleep study patients typically arrive after dinner and leave around 6 a.m.. If this conflicts with your work schedule, let us know and we will try our best to accommodate. Children younger than 18 are required to have a parent or guardian present during their study.
Results

Do I need a physician referral for a sleep study?
You must have a physician’s referral for a sleep study. If you do not have a primary care provider and would like help finding one near you, call 1-877-PPG-TODAY (774-8632).
What is an in-lab sleep study?
In the sleep lab, you will be in a private room, much like a hotel room.
Small pads or patches called electrodes will be placed on your head and body with a small amount of paste and tape. These will record things like brain activity, eye movement, oxygen levels and snoring. Soft elastic belts will be placed around your chest and abdomen to measure your breathing. Your blood oxygen levels will be checked by a small clip (oximeter) placed on the tip of your index finger. If you have sleep apnea, you may wear a mask that is connected to a continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) machine.
How does having a sleep study feel?
You will not feel pain during these tests. It may feel odd to be hooked to the sleep study equipment. The sleep lab technician understands that your sleep may not be the same as it is at home because of the equipment. Try to relax and make yourself as comfortable as possible.
What happens after a sleep study?
You can resume usual activities after the study. Call your provider with any concerns.
When will I receive results from my sleep study?
The results of your sleep study should be available within 2 to 3 weeks. The sleep lab technician will not be able to review the results with you. Your sleep study will be read by a sleep specialist. You should receive a call from the sleep specialist office or your provider to discuss results and recommendations.
