Proud to Bleed Green: Madalyn

Last Modified: July 06, 2023

People of Parkview

Madalyn Crawford, RN, Parkview Hospital Randallia, has been progressing along her career journey over the past three years, with the help of her Parkview mentors and family.

She began as a patient care technician, which she recommends for anyone who is considering a position in the field of nursing. “I gained so much experience and learned a lot by watching nurses,” she said. “When I went to school, it was easy to relate the lessons to the real world and how the information would apply in an RN position.”

Next, in her second year at Parkview, Madalyn moved onto the EMBRACE: Student Nurse Apprentice (SNAP) program. This Student Nurse Apprenticeship is intended to help last-year BSN and last-semester ASN students prepare for and transition into practice as a registered nurse. “SNAP gave me firsthand experience for my RN position.” The training set her up to move right into her nursing position, when the time came. “I knew where I fit in and how things worked.”

Now in her third year with Parkview, Madalyn is transitioning into her new position as a registered nurse on 4/5 Medical at Parkview Randallia.

An affinity for green

“The best part of my job is 100% the people I work with,” Madalyn said. “I love working at Randallia. I never walk by anybody who doesn’t greet me. It’s a little family on our unit. I work with people who will be friends forever.”

Nursing

For Madalyn, the term bleed green is about feeling inclined to mention her affiliation with the health system. “When someone asks me what I do outside of work, I say ‘I’m a Parkview nurse,’ because I love Parkview. Going to so many clinicals in schooling, I experienced different hospitals and I fit here best.

For others considering Parkview, Madalyn says it’s more of a family than anything. “I don’t consider these people co-workers. They are my friends who I can lean on and who are always there for me to answer questions and help me. I’m proud I accepted a job here and proud to say I’m a registered nurse at Parkview.”
