Kara Branock, RN, became a Parkview co-worker in 2012 after graduating from Huntington University and has been a member of the flex team for a little over a year. Initially uncertain about emergency services when beginning her role transition, Kara fell in love with the fast-paced department from day one.
Throughout her career, Kara has worked in Parkview emergency departments all across the system, gaining experience caring for populations in diverse communities and cultivating long-lasting professional relationships with her co-workers. Although this brought her immense fulfillment, nearing the end of her first decade in nursing, she was ready for a change.
A new path
At this time, Kara noticed growing popularity for an exciting new position that could offer her the adaptability to meet the needs of her family while continuing to advance her career.
The flex team is an elite fellowship of nurses who provide essential support across various departments within the health system.
"One of my favorite things about this position is being able to work not only with a variety of patients but also with a variety of co-workers as well," Kara said.
Parkview Proud
"The first question people ask is, where's your favorite place to work," she said. "I can't give that answer because I have different things I love about every facility."
For Kara, being a flex nurse at Parkview is more than just a job. It's the culmination of a culture of teamwork, strong leadership and the sense of satisfaction that comes from making a difference in patients' lives.
