Jackie Richey, RN, Parkview Home Health & Hospice, has spent the last 9 years as a home hospice nurse caring for patients in the end stages of life. In her role, she strives to keep her patients (and their loved ones) comfortable while offering support and guidance as they navigate the time they have left together.
While many aspects of nursing bring her joy, Jackie gets the most fulfillment from building relationships with her patients and walking beside them in these most challenging and unprecedented times. “What I love the most is being able to come into patients’ homes and care for them where they want to be at the end of life,” Jackie said. “I enjoy teaching, encouraging and meeting them where they are in their health journey.”
For Jackie, bleeding green isn’t a singular activity. It’s a collective effort to provide excellent care to every patient every day. “Bleed green means that as a Parkview employee, no matter what role we play, we all need to put our patients and their families first,” Jackie said. “I’m just one person, but if I can provide excellent care for my patients and everyone else does the same, then we are stronger together and can support the community.”
Jackie also proudly boasts about being a cheerleader for the hospice team and encourages anyone interested in a fulfilling career to join the Parkview family. “I love being a hospice nurse! Come and join our team!”
