Food culture

Hannah Thompson, RDN, LD, clinical dietitian, Parkview Hospital Randallia, introduces the theme for National Nutrition Month® 2025.

Since the 1970s, the month of March has been recognized as National Nutrition Month. This annual campaign invites everyone to learn about making informed food choices and creating lifelong healthful habits. This year, the theme for National Nutrition Month is Food Connects Us.

As a dietitian, I love to remind others that food is so much more than just fuel. Food is a powerful expression of culture and a fantastic tool for bringing people together. The world is full of incredible food cultures and traditions, each with their own unique ways to nourish our bodies.

In essence, food is a universal language that speaks to our shared humanity. It provides us with nourishment, connects us to our cultures and brings us together to celebrate life's moments, big and small.

If you'd like to work with a dietitian one-on-one, you can get a referral from your doctor.
