Dave Johnson, PhD, CNS, BC, LMFT, employee assistance specialist, Parkview Health, invites us to slow down this holiday season and tune into the magical moments made possible through mindfulness.
The Christmas tree is a pause point because it's multigenerational. It’s connected to so many memories, from the ornaments that are being passed from one generation to the next, to the stories that we've carried since our childhood into adulthood.
Ornaments have the capacity to bring us together. Kids will giggle and recall the moment when they made and gifted the imperfect decoration. Family members will remember loved ones who gave them the ornament.
It’s the stories sparked by these keepsakes that matter most. The happy stories and the sad stories of losing those we care for around Christmas. So, there's a connection to life. It's a pause point. It's a threshold space. It's saying, something important is going to happen here.
