The vision for the Parkview Cancer Institute encompassed a number of objectives. Toward the top of the list was creating an environment that provides every patient, family member and caregiver with the best experience possible. One important element of delivering this promise was the infusion bays. Here, Rae Gonterman, vice president of operations, Parkview Cancer Institute, explains more.

When our team set out to design the infusion bays in our new Parkview Cancer Institute, they connected with patients, families and staff to identify their true needs. The resulting space has 48 chairs, including private rooms, semi-private rooms, shared rooms and celebration rooms. Many have floor to ceiling windows to convey feelings of warmth and light. Patients can also take advantage of the rooftop garden for a stroll or a bit of time outside. The space also includes two family lounge areas, where loved ones can grab some coffee and give their loved one a bit of privacy.
