Will DuMouchelle, outpatient physical therapy, Parkview Sports Medicine, discusses the role of body tempering in athletic recovery.
Body tempering is a term referring to weighted soft tissue release over palpable tender or sore spots in a muscle group. This method is helpful after exercise or when potentially working through an injury.

Body tempering requires a body tempering rod. These come in different weights. To perform the active release:
- Identify the sore spots.
- Press the rod into the muscle area.
- Activate the muscle area.
- Release it slowly.
- Repeat for approximately 3 minutes.
You always want to check in to make sure it's not causing too much pain or is too uncomfortable.
