In the summer of 1989, Parkview’s board of directors approved operation of a helicopter emergency medical service. Today, three decades later, Parkview Samaritan is synonymous with the health system and its strong presence in the community.
The skilled team of pilots and caregivers are the authors of countless stories housed in a library rich with volumes and volumes of rescues and redemption. The goal of Samaritan was always to help people in their hour of need. Thirty years after its first flight, the program has made good on that promise. The unmistakable sound of the aircraft gliding over neighborhoods and its presence perched on top of the hospital prompt prayers and well wishes and perhaps remind us all that second chances can be just a flight away.
