Parkview Kosciusko Hospital (PKH) recently expanded services to Kosciusko County and surrounding-area residents with the opening of its Family Birthing Center on September 17.
“This Family Birthing Center has been in discussion for many years,” Scott Gabriel, market president, Parkview Health Northwest, said. “But it became a reality about two years ago, when we were able to successfully recruit providers.”
Built to accommodate local need, the new 11,391-square-foot PKH Family Birthing Center (FBC) features seven labor/delivery/recovery/postpartum (LDRP) rooms as well as two triage rooms and a dedicated C-section suite. Having a well-equipped C-section suite in the unit enhances safety for patients and minimizes disruption in a family’s birthing experience.
“The location of the C-section room was the biggest challenge because of the distance to the other surgical rooms in the building,” Scott said. “We decided it would be best to have an OR suite in the Labor and Delivery area.”
The space is accented by artwork provided by local photographers enlivens the center’s décor, and comforting touches for a healing aesthetic.
“We’re thrilled to offer strong physician providers and established staff members to this population who has been in need of a convenient, trusted option for their growing families,” Scott said.
