Program signaling

Our Transitional Year Residency program has opted to participate in program signals this year. While we will preferentially review applications from those who signal our program, we also consider applicants who do not signal us. We use the signal as part of a holistic process to help decide who to interview.

Interviews

Interview dates will be posted in Fall 2024.

Interviews will be conducted virtually between October of the current year and January of the following year to fill our residency class. Thalamus will be utilized to schedule and conduct interviews.  If invited, you will receive an email from Thalamus to schedule your interview.

Formal interviews will be held with the Program Director, Associate Program Directors and various transitional year faculty. The interview day will include a combination of assessments to identify applicants best suited to succeed in our program, while providing an introduction to Parkview Health’s mission, vision, values and daily operations.

Applicants will be evaluated on personal, academic, and patient-care qualities during the interview process.

We encourage each applicant to come prepared with their own questions.

NRMP Match

Following the NRMP Match, applicants matching to one of our specialty programs will begin orientation around mid-June.

We hope that you will learn from us during your visit, and ultimately, choose our program to be your next training home.

Parkview Health is committed to providing equal opportunity for all applicants to our residency programs and adheres to nondiscriminatory practices and policies in the recruitment, appointment, and retention of resident physicians.

Parkview Health does not discriminate with regard to race, gender, color, creed, religion, national origin, ancestry, age, marital status, disability, sexual orientation (including gender identity) or status as a protected veteran.

What is the ERAS® application process?

ERAS, or Electronic Residency Application Service, streamlines the application process for applicants, their designated Dean’s offices, letter of recommendation authors and program directors. By providing applicants the ability to build and deliver their application and supporting materials individually or as a package, ERAS provides a centralized but flexible solution to the application and documents distribution process.

The first step to applying for a specialty position at Parkview Health is to submit your application, along with other required supporting documents, through ERAS. Your Dean’s Office can assist you with this process.

Which documents are needed for the ERAS application?

Once registered for MyERAS, applicants will complete their ERAS application and submit the following supporting documents:

  • USMLE Step 1 score or COMLEX Level 1 score.
  • Medical school transcript.
  • Personal statement.
  • Three or four letters of recommendation.
  • MSPE (Dean’s letter).
Are there cutoff scores?

No, a comprehensive view is used to determine best fit with a specialty program.

What is the interview selection process?

Interviews will be conducted between October of the current year and January of the following year. Invitations are extended by email.

Personal interviews are by invitation only and are based on the information in the applicant’s application, including:

  • Academic performance.
  • USMLE or COMLEX scores*.
  • Letters of recommendation.
  • Other accomplishments.

U.S. applicants must schedule USMLE or COMLEX exams and report their Step 1 and Step 2 CK or Level 1 or 2 COMLEX scores to ensure that NGMC can download the results of these exams before the NRMP rank list deadline in mid-February. All pass-fail results need to be submitted to the program at the time they are obtained by the trainee.

What is the residency match process?

All appointments are made through the National Resident Matching Program (NRMP) in March. Applicants must register through the NRMP website in addition to submitting their application through ERAS.

What is the credentialing process and start date?

Resident physicians must be fully credentialed by the Parkview Health Office of Graduate Medical Education prior to commencement of their respective training program. Appointment to a Parkview Health specialty program is conditional and contingent upon successful completion of the appointment and credentialing process, which includes:

  • Satisfactory criminal background check and drug test.
  • Verification of satisfactory prior training (if applicable).
  • Eligibility for employment in the United States and in the State of Indiana.

Mandatory, in-person orientation begins 10 business days prior to July 1. Resident physicians are paid for orientation days. If applicable, resident physicians must also comply with the credentialing requirements of participating non-Parkview Health training sites.
