Snider freshman diver Amelia Rinehart is being eyed as a possible U.S. Olympic diver in the future.
Amelia is one of 97 divers across the country selected to USA Diving's High Performance Squad. The program evaluates divers' skill and potential for representing the United States at future Summer Games. Amelia is part of the Tier 3 Junior fold, comprised of 36 of the best teenage divers in America. Amelia was invited following her second-place finish at Junior Nationals last summer. She also represented Team USA in the Junior Pan-American Championships in October.
"I want to get to the Olympics sometime," Amelia tells the Parkview Sports Network. "I can accomplish things, I can really do really good, and I have the chance of competing."
She's hoping to make the U.S. Olympic team for the Games of Los Angeles 2024 or Paris 2028.
Amelia, who trains with PSM Performance, won the Summit Athletic Conference and Homestead regional championships this past season. She placed fourth at the IHSAA State Finals, where she was the only freshman in the state to dive.
