Blackhawk Christian senior capped off an incredible high school basketball career on Friday, April 16, winning the 2021 Indiana Mr. Basketball Award.
Furst, a 6'10" Purdue recruit, received 73 first-place votes from members of the media from across the state, according to The Indianapolis Star, which compiles the results and announces the winner. He topped future college teammate Trey Kaufman-Renn of Silver Creek (49 votes) and Blackford's Luke Brown (40 votes).
Furst, a 6'10" forward, averaged 21.4 points, 14.1 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 2.2 blocks per game this season. The Braves won two state titles--Class 2A in 2021 and Class 1A in 2019--as well as 105 career games with Furst on the roster.
Furst is one of six Fort Wayne boys basketball players to win Mr. Basketball, and the 12th to head to Purdue.
