The Indiana High School Athletic Association published on August 6 new guidlines of competition for Fall 2020 sports.
Safety measures, requirements and recommendations were released for football, volleyball, soccer, cross country, golf and tennis as part of the IHSAA COVID-19 Resource Center.
"The IHSAA believes it is essential to the physical and mental well-being of student-athletes to return to organized physical activity and build team relationships with their peers and coaches," the IHSAA said in a statement. "Students who participate learn life lessons in an environment that cannot be duplicated."
The IHSAA worked with Indianapolis-based National Federation of State High School Associations, the United States Golf Association and the United States Tennis Association to develop the guidelines. The documents are subject to change based on Centers for Disease Control & Prevention recommendations, state mandates and local ordances, the IHSAA says.
