Snider High School has turned to alumnus Mike Rayburn as the Panthers’ new girls soccer coach.
The hiring was announced June 29 on the @SniderAthletics Twitter account, following approval from the Fort Wayne Community Schools board of trustees.
“It’s great to come back and coach where I played,” Rayburn, who graduated from Snider in 2011, tells ParkviewSportsMedicine.com.
This is Rayburn’s first high school coaching job. He had previously served as a boys coach at Rangers Academy in Auburn.
Rayburn says he jumped at the opportunity to coach at Snider when the position opened up. He is looking to provide his own chapter of Lady Panthers soccer that has a rich tradition in the 21st century.
His coaching philosophy stresses 11 players willing to play offense and defense on the pitch. Team building and team bonding will play a big part in Snider’s success, he ads.
“Coming in now with a new era, with the game being played how it is now, and how I coach now will be good for the club,” he adds.
Snider is one of 26 high schools that partner with Parkview Sports Medicine for athletic training, nutrition, sports performance, athletic rehab and other sports medicine services for Panther student-athletes. Learn more at www.parkviewsportsmedicine.com.
