5 Snider football players sign on to college commitments

Five Snider football players inked their college plans during National Signing Day on February 5.

Alonzo Derrick, Lenny Bennett, Jon Barnes Jr., Jayshawn Underwood and JD Wells signed their national letters of intent in front of a packed house at Snider’s cafeteria.

 

Derrick signed with the University of Indianapolis, an NCAA Division II program. He earned 1st team All-Summit Athletic Conference honors as a wide receiver this past season.

 

Bennett will stay teammates with Derrick, as he also signs with UIndy football. Bennett was a 1st team All-SAC running back this past season.

Barnes is joining Rose-Hulman football, an NCAA Division III school in Terre Haute, Indiana. Barnes, a quarterback, earned 2nd team All-SAC honors. 

 

Underwood inked with Marian University, an NAIA program in Indianapolis. He was 1st team All-SAC at defensive back. 

Wells is headed to the University of Mount Union, an NCAA Division III school in Alliance, Ohio. 

All five were part of Panther football teams that won the SAC championship as juniors and sectionals titles as sophomores and juniors.
