Antwerp High School senior Carlie Hanes will continue her softball career at the University of Northern Ohio.
Flanked by family, friends, teammates and coaches, the state champion pitcher signed her letter of intent with UNOH, an NAIA school in Lima, during a ceremony on November 16.
Hanes came onto the scene as one of the top softball players in the state of Ohio during her junior season. She pitched all 24 games for the Lady Archers (22-2) en route to their first state title. She pitched 17 shutouts and 4 no-hitters over the course of the season. She threw more than 300 strikeouts during the season, including a state championship game record 15 strikeouts and 2-game state finals record of 28 strikeouts. She also tallied 2 RBI in Antwerp's 3-0 title game victory over Mechanicsburg. Antwerp's postseason run included a third-straight sectional title, the first district title since 2011 and the first regional title, as well.
She also is an accomplished golfer, earning 2nd team All-Green Meadows Conference honors this past fall.
