Two Parkview Sports Medicine team members will take part in a day-long symposium that focuses on nutition, sports performance, athletic development and injury prevention.
Parkview Sports Medicine sports dietitian Sami Kauffman, MA, RD, CD, and PSM Performance specialist Tyler Palmer, MA, CSCS, USAW, will be among the presenters at the 2019 Manchester University Sports Performance Conference on Saturday, August 10.
Kauffman will discuss basic sports nutrition in a talk titled, Supplementation for the Athlete and Athletically Minded. She will also take a more in-depth look at supplements. The talk includes a review commonly recommended supplements for athletes, and research showing those supplements' effects.
Palmer's talk, titled Progressing The Warmup, will focus on warm-up techniques for student-athletes in sports performance traning, and how PSM Performance develops athletes through sports-specific training based on age and ability. Additionally, Palmer will outline how PSM Performance staff works student-athletes, their coaches, as well as Parkview Sports Medicine athletic trainers and physical therapists to apply in-season training, off-season training and return to play programs.
The 2019 Manchester University Sports Performance Symposium is 7:45 a.m. to 3:40 p.m. on Saturday, August 10, at the Academic Center and Physical Education & Recreation Center (PERC) on Manchester's campus.
