Snider High School has hired Josh Riikonen as its brand new boys basketball coach.
Riikonen takes over the Panthers after years as an assistant coach in the college and high school ranks. He had been on the staff of the Indiana Tech men’s program for two season. Prior to that, he spent three seasons as an assistant at Huntington University. He also spent time as an assistant at Huntington North, East Noble, Jay County and with the Indy Heat Gym Rats.
Riikonen grew up in Elkhart, Indiana, playing at Elkhart Central High School. As a 6’7” forward, Riikonen earned Northern Lakes Conference MVP honors for his senior season, during which he averaged 18.8 points and 10.2 rebounds per game.
He played college basketball at Taylor University, scoring 800 career points and 600 career rebounds.
